Twitter Statistics Comparison for GOP Presidential Primary Candidates

Analysis from February 19th through February 26th, 2012.

Here are some of the insights we can gather from the data:

  • Newt Gingrich is leading the pack with largest Twitter community
  • Mitt Romney gained most number of followers this past week
  • Rick Santorum has the smallest Twitter community, though he is gaining as many new followers as Mitt Romney as a percentage of his community
  • Though Ron Paul’s followers are known to be Internet savvy and active on Social Media, his Twitter account is almost equal to Rick Santorum from influence and reach point of view, which is indicated by the number lists the respective Twitter handle is part of.
In the next set of blog posts, we will identify some trends and the quality of each candidate’s Twitter community. Send me an email at if you want a copy of the complete report. Put “GOP Primary Candidates Social Media Analysis” in the subject line.
